Navigating the Insurance Claim Process

The insurance claim process can be a difficult and confusing. You have busy lives and trying to navigate the insurance process can be inconvenient and often frustrating.

Using anexperienced contractor, like All ProRoofing Inc, will help you navigate the insurance process and provide a detailed estimate for all the damages on your home.

Helpful Steps:

Insurance Company:

Provide your All Pro Roofing sales representative with the Insurance Agent’s name and telephone number and the insurance policy number.

  • We will attempt to file the claim on your behalf. This works most of the time but some insurance companies prefer the Homeowner file the claim directly.
  • Ask the Agent to have the Adjuster make an appointment to inspect your damage. The Adjuster will usually look at your damage within 5 to 7 business days after filing a claim.
  • The Insurance Adjuster will call to set an appointment with you. Be sure to get the Adjuster’s name and telephone number. Go ahead and set the appointment and contact your Salesman to give him the time, date and Adjuster’s name and telephone number.

If the claim is approved, the Homeowner will receive a check for approximately fifty percent of the value.

Mortgage Company:

  • If you have a mortgage on your home, the first check will be made out to you, the Homeowner and the Mortgage Company.
  • Contact your Mortgage Company immediately and ask for the Insurance Department for details on their process to get the first check endorsed.

Contractor:

  1. Contact a reputable contracting company that is familiar with the insurance process.

    • Any credible contracting company will agree to do the installation for what the insurance company agrees to pay plus supplements.
    • If a contracting company is unwilling to do the job per insurance proceeds this could be a sign:
      • There is more work than most can handle,
      • They are forced to sell on price alone; this situation is usually an indication of quality or cash-flow problems.
    • If anyone suggests that you "make money" on fixing the storm damage, this is Insurance Fraud. Insurance Companies, due to the heavy losses sustained in the last two years, are constantly monitoring the claims to protect themselves and their policyholders.

  1. Call your sales representative when the first check comes in from the Mortgage Company. The first check is due as down payment when materials arrive at the job site.
  2. Upon completion of your repairs a project manager will do a final job inspection and go over a checklist with you. Please note any items that need attention (if any) and sign the final inspection checklist. If your Mortgage Company has requested a final inspection, call them now.
  3. The final bill will be faxed or mailed directly to the insurance company and a copy will be sent to the Homeowner.
  4. Upon receipt of the final insurance check, the invoice is due. Please contact your sales representative to pick up the final check.
